In most stories, there are two characters which attract attention, the hero and the villain. It’s nearly impossible to believe how the adorable 57-pound white/red Real Good Feelin, daughter of TMC’s Remedy – Need a Date born on August 15th, 2013, could ever fill the role as the villain but the stage was set for one of the best performances of her racing career to claim the Greyhound of the Week honors.

On Friday evening December 11th, a blockbuster field of seven superstar athletes, all top grade AA winners in recent weeks, made their way to the 550-yard starting box for the much anticipated tenth race. Real Good Feelin drew a favorable #7 post position for her mid-track running style but most of the attention for this contest was directed towards the #5 post position as kennelmate and 2015 win leader, Need My Moneynow, was seeking his record breaking 15th consecutive victory and a page in the long history of competition at Gulf Greyhound Park.

In her two most recent attempts against Need My Moneynow, Real Good Feelin put up two gallant efforts in hot pursuit finishing only 1½ lengths behind on October 10th and December 3rd. Would this be the night when Real Good Feelin finally turned the tables? The lid of the starting box opened and Real Good Feelin broke alertly dueling stride for stride with the “hero” Need My Moneynow before yielding to a pursuing second place position around the first turn. Known for her strong closing ability, Real Good Feelin was merely two lengths behind as electricity and suspense filled the air for the upcoming closing act. As the gap between the two athletes narrowed to a whisker entering the stretch, would this be the end of “the streak”? The answer would be a resounding “Yes!” as the powerful, spirited stretch run of Real Good Feelin proved best crossing under the lights of the finish line one length in front stopping the timer at 29.78 seconds.

Real Good Feelin has enjoyed a very successful 2015 campaign building a record of 57/20-9-11-6 establishing herself as one of the top athletes at Gulf Greyhound Park for trainer Craig Edwards and owner Tina Williams.
